5 Things to Know Before Hiring a Concrete Contractor

Permits
Pulling permits, unfortunately, is part of the process for getting concrete poured on your property. It is important to make sure that your contractor is pulling the permits necessary for your concrete work before they commence. Homeowners have called us in distress because their previous contractor was kicked off of the job for not having the correct permits.

Clean Up
The devil is in the details! It is always best not to assume that your contractor is going to treat your property the same way they would their own. Have it in writing that they are going to clean up their mess. We have seen many times where other contractors expect you to clean up the mess they made.

Rebar
What is your contractor using to ensure the structural integrity of your concrete? Fiber mesh is not a replacement for rebar. There are good benefits to fiber such as increasing tensile strength and helping to lower the likelihood of pitting. However, when it comes to cracks, fiber will not bridge the gap of a crack and hold your slab together the way rebar will. Make sure rebar is used to add extra strength and support.

Sealer
One of the greatest benefits of choosing to go with IDC is our anti-slip sealer. Gone are the days where your only option for stamped concrete is to use high-build, high-gloss, acrylic sealer! These sealers are very slippery when wet and can be a nightmare if someone applies too much. This can cause your concrete to look cloudy and even start to bubble. The sealer we use is a satin finish, penetrating sealer that will enhance the color of your slab without causing the danger of slipping.

Timeliness
How easy is it to get a price from your contractor? If it took forever for them to get you a price, how responsive do you think they will be after you give them your hard-earned money and you have an issue you need resolved? Our goal is always to leave customers with a full written proposal on our free at home estimate. We also take pride in our brick and mortal locations where we have employees answering the phone all day. If there is an issue we will address it immediately!
