Wash and Seal Maintenance
Concrete sealing isn’t just about shine — it’s about protecting the surface of your patio before damage occurs. At Indy Decorative Concrete, we recommend sealing stamped and decorative concrete every year using our penetrating, color-enhancing sealer to maintain both appearance and durability. This type of sealer soaks into the concrete, strengthening the surface while enhancing color and helping protect against moisture, freeze-thaw cycles, UV fading, and surface wear.
We like to explain concrete sealing with a simple comparison:
If you start using a hair-loss product early, you can usually keep the hair you have.
But if you wait until the hair is gone and then start the product — the hair doesn’t come back.
Concrete works the same way.
Stamped concrete has a finished top layer, often called the “cream”, that gives it its smooth texture and rich color. Regular sealing helps preserve that surface. Once that top layer wears away and the aggregate becomes exposed, the original smooth finish and color cannot be restored — no matter how good the sealer is.

Care Instructions:
- For exterior surfaces, cleaning your concrete on occasion and keeping it sealed are the best measures you can take to keep it looking its best. Pressure wash or scrub using a mild detergent and broom for removal of debris, dirt, tree sap buildup and mineral deposits.
- While a sealer will help to protect concrete from stain absorption, it’s still a good idea to remove oil, gasoline, grease and other spills as soon as possible.
- Use care with chemicals and place foot protectors on furniture that might scrape or scratch the surface of your concrete.
