We also know that Indiana summers can be brutally hot. That is why you will often hear Jamie asking, “Are you drinking enough water?” She regularly reminds the crew that dehydration and kidney stones are very real risks when working outside in the heat. We appreciate that she genuinely cares about us, but we all agree the hand lotion by the time clock is where we draw the line. Soft hands are not exactly a job requirement in the concrete business! We do appreciate the Gatorade she keeps stocked on the trucks, along with the Healthycell vitamins, sunscreen and the reminders to slow down when the heat demands it.

Construction can be noisy, and we understand that. Even though starting work earlier during the summer would help us beat the afternoon heat, we intentionally wait until 8:00 a.m. before beginning because people deserve quiet mornings. There have even been times when we’ve gone above and beyond to minimize disruptions, but we have been accidentally in the way before too!  We have ran trash cans down to the trash truck that we were accidentally blocking, helped flag homeowners in and out of parking spots. We felt awful when a young mother called upset because the noise was disturbing her sleeping baby. We mailed her a gift card along with a handwritten apology. We can’t eliminate every inconvenience that comes with construction, but we can always choose to treat people with kindness and respect. We put our name on everything we wear and drive and then put a sign in the yard – We are not hiding! Contact us anytime.

What Is Powder Release?

Powdered release is a colored powder applied during the stamping process. It serves two important purposes:

• It prevents the stamping tools from sticking to the concrete.
• It naturally antiques the concrete by settling into the texture, grout lines, and low spots while the concrete is still being stamped.

After the patio is washed and sealed, the remaining release creates rich highlights and shadows that closely resemble natural stone.

Why We Choose Powder Release

More Natural Color Variation

One of the biggest advantages of powdered release is that the color develops naturally during the stamping process. The powder settles differently throughout the texture, creating subtle variations that mimic real stone.

Powdered release enhances every grout line and textured surface. The darker accent color naturally remains in the deeper areas, helping each stone pattern stand out without looking forced or painted on.

Liquid antiquing is typically sprayed or rolled onto cured concrete after stamping. Because it’s a liquid, it can run down exposed edges, steps, risers, and the sides of turndowns if it isn’t applied perfectly.

Powdered release doesn’t have that issue. Since the antiquing occurs during stamping—not afterward—the color develops naturally within the texture instead of creating streaks or drip marks along vertical surfaces.

Anyone who drives I-465 knows traffic can go from 65+ mph to a complete stop in seconds. You don’t always see it coming. Heavy trucks and trailers don’t stop on a dime, which is why we leave plenty of following distance. Sometimes another driver will cut our face off (squeezzzze in front of us because it looks like an open invitation). We’ll simply back off again and recreate that safety cushion. No one is worth risking my job!

So if you see one of our trucks traveling at or even slightly below the speed limit, we’re not trying to hold anyone up. We’re protecting our crew, everyone else on the road and the equipment that helps us stamp concrete.
